Most people visit Juneau in the summer months and many of them do the Mendenhall River Float trip. Others drive over the river on the Back Loop bridge. For those of us who live here year around, it is amazing to see how much the river changes during the winter. When the cold weather freezes most of the glacial runoff the river level drops significantly and the river become almost unrecognizable. I thought you might like to see the difference. Following are 2 shots facing north from the bridge and 2 facing south from the from the river. Amazing – isn’t it!
